FROM THE WINEMAKER

The 2022 growing season in Alexander Valley began with a welcome wet spring, which promoted healthy vine growth and set the stage for a strong vintage. However, frost and a smaller fruit set led to reduced yields, but the mostly mild summer allowed for even ripening and excellent flavor development. A brief early-September heatwave prompted an earlier harvest; however, careful vineyard management ensured that fruit quality was preserved. The resulting wines are concentrated, vibrant, and well-balanced, showing great varietal character.

The 2022 Acclivity Cabernet Sauvignon opens with a decadent bouquet teeming with blackberry compote, ripe blueberries, mission figs and a cool thread of chocolate mint layered with exotic hints of cardamom and star anise. On the palate, the rich, lush fruit is supported by supple tannins and round, integrated acidity. A plush velvety finish carries the wine to a satisfying close, leaving a lingering impression of spice and dark fruit.
